Carissa’s Story

Carissa, a resident of Frisco, Texas, is a wife and mother of two (ages 12 & 15) in the midst of this life changing journey. She discovered a lump during a self-check. In April 2023, she was diagnosed with stage 2 triple positive breast cancer, prompting her to undergo a bilateral mastectomy in May of 2023. Subsequently, she embarked on a journey through chemotherapy, commencing in July 2023 and concluding in November 2023.

Despite the challenges she has faced, Carissa remains positive and is currently undergoing HER2+ therapy, receiving a shot every three weeks, with plans to continue for a year. Additionally, she is committed to taking Tamoxifen for at least five years as part of her ongoing treatment.

Throughout this challenging period, Carissa has always looked for the glimmers/ silver linings and shown her family & friends when you have faith & support, you can get through anything!

Two weeks out from her own surgery, Carissa nominated her friend Nicole, who was diagnosed around Thanksgiving. We hope to share Nicole’s story once she has received her box, shhh…it’s a surprise.
