Cristina’s Story

I am a 38-year-old single mother to a toddler, and I live with my son and our two cats in Boston. In December, I was diagnosed with stage II invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) breast cancer, and my mastectomy is coming up soon.

Everything has happened very quickly, from exams to diagnosis to establishing care, and while I am still navigating uncertainty, I am grateful that the process has moved efficiently. I am also deeply thankful for the support of my family as I go through this experience.

My mother is a breast cancer survivor, and her experience has helped guide me as I learn to navigate this disease myself.
