Trisha’s Story
My name is Trisha. I’m 50 and live in Colorado, not far from where I grew up. I just celebrated five years of marriage to an amazing man. When I say I hit the husband jackpot, I’m not exaggerating.
This was supposed to be a big year. We had so many plans. In April, I found a lump. A blood test raised a cancer flag, and we were thrown into a chaotic rush of appointments, scans, labs and tests. By June, we learned I have metastatic breast cancer, with mets in my spine and hip. Not the year we planned. Everything changed. Everything.
We’re navigating radiation, medical treatments, integrative therapies, a pile of side effects and pain like I’ve never known. Our four adult children, their spouses and our friends have shown up in ways I am eternally grateful for.
This is a new reality. A hard, ever-changing path. I am held by the grace of God and the people He has placed around me. I’m doing my best to show up every day, not because I have it all figured out, but because I trust the One who does. And I need to stay here as long as I possibly can for my family, including two grandbabies on the way who give me so much hope and so much to look forward to.
